Last year, Courtney and Braden made the big move to Indianapolis so he could begin his football career with the Indianapolis Colts. Courtney is also a talented photographer herself, so I loved getting to shoot with someone who is also passionate about the arts! I’ll never forget when I flew out to shoot their engagement session and forgot to bring a jacket… and gloves, and hat, and scarf. (In my defense, I was coming from a wedding in Charleston where is was 75 degrees!) It was SO cold but they were troopers and I loved getting to explore their new city with them for the first time. Despite how incredible the city of Indianapolis is, I was happy they decided to have their wedding back south <3
The Palmetto Bluff is such an amazing little community, it really felt like I was in some sort of utopia…The wetlands reminded me so much of the beauty on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, but just add the palm trees, Spanish moss canopying over every street, neighbors smiling and riding bicycles, a quaint front porch on every home… and then there’s the May River Chapel. Talk about a storybook setting! It don’t think anything could have made this place more picturesque than it already was.
One thing that stood out to me about this day, was not only the love that they share for their families but also their friends. This was a close knit group of loved ones, from all parts of their lives, and I loved getting to document those connections! It’s times like this that I think big wedding parties are SO much fun and worth the extra bit of organization.
If I tried to share every moment I loved from this day I would be writing a novel, so if I had to choose just one moment, it would be this.
After the ceremony, Braden and Courtney had a boat waiting for them down by the docks. After going for a little joy ride with them for photos, just the two of them took off into the sunset. I think this is SO important!! Taking some time on your wedding day to soak it all in.. and these two got to do it out on a boat at sunset, looking back at all their guests on the lawn… I just imagine that was such a memorable time for them that they will always cherish..
Courtney and Braden, thank you so much for allowing me to document this day for you both. All the love in the world to you guys!!
